Electrifying without the sting! A lamp named after the venomous woolly bear caterpillar/moth but inspired by 70s fashion and colors. After I introduced the Penny Lamp a few people inquired about shaded lamps. I hate lampshades, but I liked the challenge of the making a new or different lampshade. Something different but still functional. I played with the forms for this lamp and wanted to try combining a few things, it was very much a spirit led process for lamp. When I saw the pieces, materials, and colors I felt out the design. I wanted a little cantilever arm and I love scalloping so I put a scalloping arm in. I love earthy and muted tones right now so I went with those colors. The design took a little longer to finalize because it just never felt right. I added the curtain shade but was unsure about the materiality. Initally I planned to go with silk as I thought would be reflective but at Union Square Market I saw this locally raised and processed wool and immediately bought it for this lamp. It adds a depth and tactile element to the lamp that really rounds it out. This lamp can be used as a table lamp or we can convert it to a sconce.
